"Saving just one animal won't change the world, but it will surely change the
world for that one animal." - Author Unknown
You can help!
To rescue abused, neglected and abandoned animals, rehabilitate them and give them a second chance to live out the rest of their natural lives in a caring, loving environment. This is what guides us because every animal matters.
We shelter, treat and care for a number of rescued animals. Pegasus Animal Sanctuary will provide quality care for as many animals as funding will allow.
This critical period focuses on proper nutrition and veterinarian care to help the rescued animals on their road to recovery in their new forever home. Our volunteers and staff are trained to support our extended family in a caring and loving environment.
This final stage will be cause for celebration when everyone observes the transformation that takes place in the appearance and behaviour of our rescued animals. This feeling of elation and accomplishment will be equally shared by all of the volunteers, staff and donors who played a major role in their transformation.
``Hi Jack. I wanted to let you and Rita know that volunteering at Pegasus has been an amazing experience for my daughter and myself. As you know she is a Type 1 Diabetic and a person of “Special Needs.” Sasha has volunteered at other types of facilities in the past but has always found a reason not to continue. We have been to your Sanctuary 8 times now and her enthusiasm has not waned. She talks about it constantly. This is the first time that she has been comfortable doing a volunteer activity with me, or anyone, and needless to say I am enjoying this special time together immensely. I want to thank you, Rita, and of course our friend L.A. for the way you all treat her. Your kindness, respect, patience and understanding means so much. It truly warms my heart.``

``While I was working for several years at one of the country's largest animal welfare organizations, I had the pleasure of working together with Jack, Rita and Logan Hurst. I appreciated their leadership and their support of our Peer to Peer events, which raised more than $500,000 across the province of Ontario. Their passionate support of animal welfare and Jack's media and marketing contacts was quite evident to all of us and significantly contributed to the success of our organization.``

``My time at Pegasus Animal Sanctuary this past month was one of the highlights of my summer. I so enjoyed meeting and interacting with all the animals. Preparing their food, cleaning their stalls, walking the horses, exercising and massaging the pigs gave me a sense of real satisfaction that I was making a difference. I am so happy to know that there is somewhere for these animals to get a second chance at life and such great care, and I observed that each shift. Jack and Rita are compassionate people who treat their ``lovely residents`` with kindness and their volunteers positively. I even witnessed this at the end of a long, hot day, when they rescued an injured woodpecker and drove it to Shades of Hope another sanctuary for the care it needed. I plan to recommend Pegasus Animal Sanctuary to other high-school students looking for a meaningful way to complete their community involvement hours, and to any volunteers who love animals and want a rewarding and memorable experience. You and the animals will be better for it! Thank you!``
