THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
• Post-secondary education in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Technology, Equine Studies, or a related field - or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
• Minimum 2-4 years of practical experience working with farm animals (horses, donkeys, livestock, poultry), preferably in a sanctuary, farm, or rescue environment
• Strong working knowledge of animal health, nutrition, behaviour, and welfare best practices
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills; comfortable managing competing priorities in a hands-on environment\
• Practical problem-solver with sound judgment and the ability to work independently day-to-day
• Comfortable engaging with the public and donors during visits, as needed

• Flexible and committed, recognizing that animal care doesn't stop at 5pm

Location - 2090 Scugog Line 3, Port Perry, ON L9L 1B3 - 5 minutes south of Port Perry

Type - Full-Time | 25-35 hours/week (flexible schedule)

Compensation - $18 per hour, plus the use (when required) of a company farm vehicle for work duties & Looking ahead - we are developing plans to offer live-in accommodations for this role.

Your support, along with the dedication of our 50–55 weekly volunteers, has allowed us to rescue animals who had nowhere else to go and give them the peaceful, love-filled lives they deserve.

Now, we’re ready to take a major step forward. To strengthen the future of the sanctuary, we are hiring our first full-time Operations Manager and building a small second residence on our property for this position! To make this dream a reality, we’ve set a $170,000 fundraising goal—an investment that will allow us to save even more lives for years to come.

We shelter, treat and care for a number of rescued animals. Pegasus Animal Sanctuary will provide quality care for as many animals as funding will allow.
This critical period focuses on proper nutrition and veterinarian care to help the rescued animals on their road to recovery in their new forever home. Our volunteers and staff are trained to support our extended family in a caring and loving environment.
This final stage will be cause for celebration when everyone observes the transformation that takes place in the appearance and behaviour of our rescued animals. This feeling of elation and accomplishment will be equally shared by all of the volunteers, staff and donors who played a major role in their transformation.
